AVALON WATERWAYS HONOURED WITH TWO PRESTIGIOUS CRUISE CRITIC AWARDS
13th December 2017: Avalon Waterways is thrilled to announce that it is the recipient of two prestigious UK Editors’ Picks Awards by Cruise Critic, the world’s largest cruise reviews site and online cruise community. The luxury river cruise line won in the Best Cabins and Best for Active Cruisers categories. The winners were announced yesterday in Soho amongst a number of influential cruise media, cruise experts, industry leaders and honoured guests.
Celebrating its 9th anniversary, the awards are selected by a global panel of impartial cruise experts from Cruise Critic to highlight the best ocean, river and luxury cruise lines across dozens of categories. Here is what they had to say about Avalon Waterways:
Best Cabins – Avalon Waterways
Avalon bucks the norm with beds that face the window, which is great if you want to take a rest in your cabin and enjoy the passing scenery. Its "Comfort Collection Beds" include memory foam mattress toppers and a choice of pillows, resulting in some of the most comfortable beds on the rivers. There is attention to small details, plus soothing "fireplace" settings on the flat-screen TV.
Best for Active Cruisers – Avalon Waterways
Avalon's innovative Active Discovery cruises appeal to passengers wanting more than classic sightseeing excursions. The programme includes jogging tours of Vienna, kayaking, cycling and hiking. Launched on the Danube last year, the programme is being extended to the Rhine for 2018. Avalon has also introduced new health-conscious vegetarian dishes based around fresh, local produce sourced from small farms.
“We are truly honoured to receive the awards for Best Cabins and Best for Active Cruisers,” said Giles Hawke, CEO of Avalon Waterways. “It is our mission to offer an incomparable river cruise experience and to attract new discerning travellers to the cruise market. We feel both proud and humbled to have our commitment recognised in such a substantial way. We wish to thank the editors of Cruise Critic and their outstanding community of cruising enthusiasts and experts, along with our passengers, partners and innovative product and design teams for this great recognition.”
From a romantic mini-break on the Seine, a glittery Christmastime Danube cruise, an active discovery on the Rhine, or an intimate look at life on the banks of the Mekong Delta, Avalon Waterways showcases the very best encounters of Europe, Asia and South America. On every river cruise, travellers can choose from a number of included excursions, such as cycling on canal paths, learning to paint like Van Gogh and wine tasting at family owned vineyards; or they can simply relax on the deck with a drink and enjoy the river views.
Never one to follow the crowd, Avalon was the first company to launch all-suite ships featuring innovative open-air balconies and beds facing the sweeping views. Its inclusions, both onboard and ashore, are unmatched. These include flights, spacious staterooms, full board dining with wine and beer at lunch and dinner, complimentary Wi-Fi, gratuities, shore excursions at every port of call led by Certified Local Guides, VIP entrance into must-see sites, and VIP private home pick-up service (within 100 miles).
