This timeless Europe river cruise holiday begins with two nights in vibrant Budapest in Hungary, then sails along the Danube River with exciting stops in Austria and Germany, and end with two nights in Prague - the capital of the Czech Republic.
In Budapest, Hungary’s lively capital, marvel at the eight bridges spanning the river and enjoy an introduction to the city by a local expert who shows you the must-see sights. Vienna, Austria, offers stunning St Stephen’s Cathedral, the Habsburg Palace and the Vienna Opera House. In the heart of the Wachau wine region is Dürnstein, a 16th-century town with charming cobblestone streets and the baroque Stiftskirche with its luminous blue façade. In the picturesque town of Melk, visit Austria’s majestic Benedictine Abbey, one of Europe’s largest monasteries, and enjoy a tasting of some of the Wachau Valley’s famous wines. You’ll love a guided walk through Passau, with its narrow streets and beautiful Patrician houses.
Further up the Danube River, you’ll come to the medieval walls of Regensburg - the only German city not bombed during WWII. Your last stop is the thousand-year-old city of Nuremberg, where you’ll marvel at the medieval fortifications, extraordinary gothic churches, and the Imperial Castle. Disembark and travel to beautiful Prague, known as the “Golden City.” See the sights with a local guide and explore on your own. Stroll across Charles Bridge, mix with the locals on Wenceslaus Square, and shop for hand-cut crystal and art books. A perfect ending to a memorable river cruise holiday!

"Wonderful Danube cruise on the Avalon Visionary"
I was reluctant to undertake a cruise but was persuaded to give it a try by my wife. How right she was. The cruise was fantastic overall. The boat was perfect, stateroom fabulous, food utterly delicious and staff truly wonderful to the very last man and woman! The whole experience was completely beyond my initial expectations. Thank you
As above. Top marks all round
"A very happy ship maintaining first class standards of service and dining"
Faultless organization: everything worked well, starting with pick up for the airport. Avalon reps. and team on board couldn't have been more helpful.
"Excellent from start to finish"
Every component of the holiday was very good and they were put together very well. This resulted in the best river cruise we have ever had.
Good value for money.....

"Outstanding! Every aspect of the cruise exceeded our expectations"
Our Cruise Director (Roos), Captain (Roland) and every individual crew member in every department ensured our trip was memorable. The ship was immaculate; the food and wine from start to finish plentiful and of excellent quality; the state cabin perfect.
"First class holiday"
Would recommend Avalon and will definitely cruise with them again. Excellent service, great crew. Lots of laughs and happy memories.
Beautiful scenery and many places to explore and tour along the route. Plentiful information given re stopping places and what to do and see. Food and wine on board to compliment the countries visited added to the experience. Altogether first class.
"Booking & paperwork experience"
For some reason when we booked our holiday with Avalon, they had not entered details of our e-mail address on our booking (although we do distinctly remember being asked for it) & so consequently we didn't receive any information as only means of contact seems to be by e-mail not post.
It was only when I finally managed to speak to someone, in February I think it was, that I was told our e-mail address was not on your records.
We had to print everything off from the computer (shore excursions, baggage labels etc) whereas all the American, Canadian, Australian, N.Z. people we met on the trip, all had 'the blue book'.
Wonderful trip, good weather and the river levels allowed us to enjoy the whole trip on the boat.
