"Best holiday for many years."

"Up with the best of our experience with seven river cruises."

"Avalon Gone Down "

17th August 2017 - Mr Alexander Straney

Second Cruise and it was less organised then our first. Not very much went well, the people who worked for Avalon try very hard but it was not the experience I had hoped for.

Picked Up was 30 minutes late. Flight left late and had a 5 hour wait in Amsterdam which arrived in Prague at Midnight, 6 hours late with no one to meet us so needed to get a Taxi to the Hotel. The Andel was good but Avalon advertise the Hilton or the Intercontinental, so just a cheap money saving con. Guided Tours were very short compared to extra pay tours.

"The staff on board were very good but the cruise director was not as helpful. We..."

15th August 2017 - Mrs Diana Clue

The staff on board were very good but the cruise director was not as helpful. We had booked an hotel to extend our stay in Budapest only to receive an email that it had been cancelled day before we arrived. We asked the cruise director if he was able to book us at The Intercontinental at Avalon rates but we were advised it would be complicated and not able to help with this and th best thing to do would be to go online and book something else! We did find somewhere else to stay but it was the reception staff who helped to arrange for a taxi to the hotel. We felt somewhat abandon at the end of the trip.

Some excursions were value for money but not others.

11th August 2017 - Trusted Customer

Everything went well except too many early starts and not enough time in Vienna and Budapest.

Too many early mornings and not enough time to finish dinner prior to evening excursions,i.e. to classical music concert we had to forego our desserts and coffee even though we sat down at 6.00pm and Budapest evening the trip had to be delayed for the same reason, our feelings were made known to the cruise director but he was not at all sympathetic.

"Level of all services was 5 star, from the cleaning girls to the excursions?..."

11th August 2017 - Mr Richard Lipinski

Level of all services was 5 star, from the cleaning girls to the excursions?

As above! All excursions etc were first class!

"Luxury holiday, well worth the price."

7th August 2017 - Trusted Customer

Fantastic service, food was amazing, wine included with meals, cabins very comfortable, lots of excursions included with good local guides. Even when something went wrong - the boat needed to go into dry dock for a few hours to be fixed after damage to propellers - they did their utmost to ensure that the programme was disrupted as little as possible and gave generous compensation for the inconvenience.

Great places to visit. Fabulous views and culture.

29th July 2017 - Trusted Customer

Excellent from the moment the taxi collected us to being dropped off again at home. Very well organised making for a very relaxing, enjoyable and memorable holiday. Thank you Avalon.

Only fault was the Angel House Hotel in Prague. We we expecting to be in one of the hotels advertised which were in the centre of Prague and certainly of better standard than the Angel. It was disappointing that we had a long walk or had to take transport into the city centre and the facilities at the hotel were more geared to business users than holiday makers. There was not a lounge or a bar area with comfortable seating. The rest of the holiday could not be faulted.

"Very satisfied nrepeat passengers."

28th July 2017 - Mr Dennis Simmonds

Excellent ships and staff: one minor discomfort - when "hot" food was on self-service, it was seldom more than luke-warm. We used only one free trip as the departure time of 08.15 meant fairly early rising.

Large cabin, comfortable beds good food well-served.

"A dream come true cruise"

28th July 2017 - Mr Jeremy Nockles

From the moment we were picked up at home by the limo, to the time we returned, it was just like having the best dream. Just wonderful !!

The choice of cities visited. The service from start to finish. The interesting tours and the well informed tour guides. The people that we met on board. The dining experience. The courtesy from all involved. The tour director and her boundless enthusiasm and helpful advice.

"Very relaxing and good service"

28th July 2017 - Ms Christina Thorn

Only good memories!

Second time on Avalon - and will go again!

"Excellent holiday at a reasonable price."

27th July 2017 - Mrs Lynn Barton

The whole first experience of sailing with Avalon was excellent, from the organisation, selection of itineries, the boat itself and the staff, from Captain to cleaner, couldn't have been better. All this for a reasonable price. We would certainly recommend taking a holiday with this company and will, no doubt, take our own advice in the future.

The variety of ports and the shore excursions were excellent. The included walking tours always had good guides and were not too long.

"Staff could not have been more helpful. The outstanding member of staff was Istvan,..."

26th July 2017 - Mr William Adam

Staff could not have been more helpful. The outstanding member of staff was Istvan, the cruise Director

Our only criticism is that whereas the coffee and other hot drinks which were always available on board were just fine, the coffee served at breakfast was not nearly as good. It seemed to have been sitting in the pot for quite some time.

"Levels of service throughout the ship were excellent. Would definitely recommend...."

24th July 2017 - Mr Geoffrey Partington

Levels of service throughout the ship were excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Only purchase was one optional tour which we thought was a good tour

"If you want a superb holiday look no further"

30th June 2017 - Mrs Susan Trickett

They did everything perfectly. We ahd absolutely no complaints. We just had one problem when we arrived back at LJR and no driver was there to meet us.

As above . Everything so perfect, organisation, cabins, food, wine, service, well just everything

"Very well organised and consistently aiming to please..."

20th June 2017 - Trusted Customer

Very well organised and consistently aiming to please

A great way to see some cities we have always wanted to visit.

"Great hospitality, could have he'd more inclusive excursions."

19th June 2017 - Trusted Customer

Looked after us really well, good staff, great attention paid to make guests comfort. Could have more excursions included as often left on boat as paid trips, very expensive, took place with those willing to pay these extra costs. We're sent of the boat at 09.00 and taken to a hotel to wait for transport to the airport. I thought we should have been issued with a lunch voucher also Avalon should have paid the hotel to look after our cases as we could not haul them around for 6 house.

Great cruise, good hospitality. Lacked care after leaving boat whilst waited 6 hours to be taken to the airport

"A very happy experience "

17th June 2017 - Trusted Customer

Yes we would we found how much more friendly a small ship with less than 200 people on can be this was our first River Cruise. We are finding the big cruise ships are now very impersonal and when the ship docks it takes so long to disembark 3 or 4 thousand people and if more than one ship is in port it is so crowded so its river cruises for us from now on. Your staff are fantastic your service was brilliant thank you very much

I have said all I want thank you very much

"Very disappointing"

13th June 2017 - Trusted Customer

By ensuring that all of your passengers get a drink at the Captain's welcome before he and his crew/staff, and not after he had left. About 8 of us were left out despite being in the middle of the room. Very indifferent food, sometimes overcooked and sometimes undercooked. Very mundane selection of salads, but we appreciated the hot plates. Chaotic tours, mainly leaving only 25 minutes and once only 5 minutes, to look for ourselves. Uniformed guides/cruise director as to closures of sites to be seen. Leaving members of coach party when not on time to leave. Always in a hurry, and why did we end up in Lintz when we could have spent so much more time in Passau, or other site of great interest? On the plus side, the ship/boat was great. Excellent rooms , bathrooms and common areas. Your staff/crew were excellent - always cheerful ad helpful.

"Excellent accommodation with friendly service...."

12th June 2017 - Trusted Customer

Excellent accommodation with friendly service.

It was an expensive holiday, but certainly good value. However, we were surprised when we received an email a week before departure with last minute deals that would have saved us almost £1500 for the identical holiday.
