Insufficient optional activities on board. Small gym. Long periods cruising between towns with nothing to do. suggest on board cinema, card games, quiz sessions for example.

Happy with purchases ashore.

"We'll be back!"

24th July 2017 - Mr John Welsh

Between 4 and 18 July 2017, my wife and I sailed down down the Rhine and the Danube Rivers from Amsterdam to Budapest aboard the Avalon Panorama Vessel. Every aspect of our holiday was excellent. The ship, inside and outside, and our stateroom were immaculately maintained. The crew was attentive and very professional. Our stateroom was maintained expertly by Claudia who was warm and friendly. The food was delicious, well prepared, well presented and plentiful. There was always a variety of dishes to choose from. Staff in the dining room were extremely diligent, friendly and polite and made us laugh a lot. Included and optional tours were all well organised and interesting. All of our local guides were approachable and knowledgeable. The other passengers on the ship, mainly from Australia and New Zealand, were delightful. Entertainment on board was delightful also. We had a wonderful trip and look forward to sailing with Avalon again in the future. THANK YOU! I would not hesitate to recommend Avalon to anyone.

Tours and other items purchased en route were of a very high quality.

The cruise was generally excellent although marred by the return flight (norwegian air - late boarding then delayed take off (hour and thre quarters) attitude of cabin crew very poor)

Food, entertainment, service, excellent. Ship spotless and at the end of a long day my bed was very comfortable.

It is a river cruise that I have looked forward to for a few years and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I have cruised the Rhein, the Main and the Danube before in bits but this was the big one. I must add that the entertainment was also very good.

"Cruise ship was excellent."

14th July 2017 - Mr Geoffrey McElwaine

Cruise itself was fine. Ito. given during booking was incomplete - 1. I was not informed that, had I declined the VIP car service, our bill would have been reduced by £ 200. 2. I was not informed of the option to fly directly from Belfast to / from Amsterdam with KLM, thus avoiding Heathrow. 3. On arriving at Amsterdam, Avalon reps. were not immediately apparent. ( Once located, they couldn't have been more helpful. )

Despite some issues with booking info., etc. the cruise was as described in Avalon's brochure. Had we known to book later, we would have had a better stateroom at less price than we paid for ours.

"Super trip."

2nd June 2017 - Mr Perry Hildebrand

Excellent organisation throughout. Superb boat and service. Fantastic meals. A wide range of tours off the ship and good talks and entertainment on board. All staff especially the cruise director were great.

"Wonderful cruise"

16th May 2017 - Mrs Jaquline Bowdler

Boat cleanliness excellent. Services of all staff on boat always helpful and friendly. Always making you feel comfortable nothing too much trouble. The food and wine was usually regional. Food cooked to perfection. Presentation of food superb. Experience on boat outstanding. Picked up from home by executive car superb. Only downfalls was the meet and greet at Amsterdam airport this was lacking, at arrival at hotel cold coffee served, must have been there sometime beforehand. Also at the intercontinental hotel in Budapest no beverages offered, bellboy demanding 4.5 euros per case for storage. Although being told a small tip may be required by tour manager of 2 euros to handlers his demand upset many of our fellow travellers and a disagreement ensured thus spoiling what had been a wonderful holiday. In fact the whole experience at the intercontinental hotel was a disaster it was obvious we were not wanted there.

Brilliant experience. Would have liked longer in some cities.

"We got what it said on the tin."

15th May 2017 - Alan

The cruise itself was excellent, well organised and ran like clockwork with totally committed and friendly staff and guides. There were minor issues including pre and post cruise and these have been fed back to Avalon as constructive suggestions.

"Amsterdam-Budapest cruise"

All the crew worked very hard to make sure that we had a great holiday.

It was great. We had an excellent time.

"My service feedback with Avalon Cruises"

16th November 2016 - Trusted Customer

A very comfortable ship and easy to get around.

My only complaint would be the hotel in Amsterdam used as a "holding hotel" at the start of the holiday (Oct 28th). The room was very functional and bare and did not have comfortable chairs or sofas. Some people waited there quite a long time.

"Generally high standard."

16th November 2016 - Trusted Customer

Generally high standard.

Disappointed with choice of moorings being much too far from towns on itinerary. We prefer to stroll through towns at our own pace rather being restricted to coach transfers.

Both my husband and our two friends thoroughly enjoyed the cruise. The crew were excellent, the food was varied and well presented the cabins were extremely comfortable and clean. If we could get a similar deal the four of us would love to do the cruise again next year. Expectations were exceeded. The cruise director and the music director were both excellent-they were both very pleasant and helpful and the events organised were superb. A holiday which will rank as one of our best. Well done everyone we will definitely sail with you again. Please get in touch if you can offer a similar cruise next year

Excellent choice of destinations- visited some beautiful places. The music on this cruise was excellent- what a pleasure it was to do visits to the violin maker, the Budapest opera house where we had the added joy of listening to some music with a glass of champagne in hand, Siegfried's mechanical music museum, the concert in the church. I could go on and on extolling the virtues of this holiday and have recommended your company to several friends already. I think by now you will have realised that we all thoroughly enjoyed this holiday and can't wait to sail with you again. Very well done

I have no complaints about the cruise at all. My only Issue is that I live in Cornwall and your door to door chauffeur or excess mileage option is not available or not cost effective for me. Perhaps you could consider a financial incentive for those who do not take your service..

Simply beautiful.

"Not being met off the plane in Amsterdam, and then being dumped in a hotel…"

18th October 2016 - Trusted Customer

Not being met off the plane in Amsterdam, and then being dumped in a hotel for several hours was not a good start to this cruise.. For a first time river cruiser, I was bitterly disappointed. The cruise director was a waste of space- my husband had some walking difficulties, but wanted to see as much as he could, at one stop we where tole there was 80 steps + 80 steps to walk up - far too many for him, I questioned where the cafe was, because we would have gone and just seen what we could on the ground floor... To be told later that there was a walking RAMP which he could have managed no problem - apparently our cruise director either forgot or did not know to tell us!!!! The one place my husband particularly wanted to see.......

Enjoyed what we did see, but annoyed about lack of time in many of the stops - 2 hours is hardly enough time to see or do anything.
