"The staff and crew were friendly and informative and the ship was kept in pristine..."
"Cruise OK but some details lacking...."
"Disappointed over contradictory information regarding gratuities"
I felt pressured when on board.
We were told crew relied on tips to "make up their wages".
We were disappointed to hear this having been told our trip "included all gratuities".
We always give personal tips to those who provide a service to us.
I asked for an explanation for the contradictory information but did not receive one. I was not happy.
My disappointment is noted above
We have travelled with Avalon 4 times now and have always had a great experience
Value for money and the attention given by the staff.
"Good 4 star standard"
Would recommend and buy again.
"I rate it the best cruise I have done"
I have been on two world cruisews and several shorter ocean cruises but none has bettered my recent trip with Avalon. The organisation was perfect althpough I did not feel organised. Brilliant.
I made very few except Bar drinks. Service was excellent
"Excellent cruise, but poor arrival and departure arrangements"
Boat was excellent. Arrival and departure were not good. Would recommend to others.
The staff were excellent....that's the reason for the 4 stars. Was disappointed with the food and also I was informed when booking my trip that it was all inclusive of beer wine and soft drinks (one of the reasons I booked) This was not the case! Also was disappointed that 90% of the cruising was done overnight and not during the day. Also too much double docking that I had no idea about. Three days we had no view whatsoever from our balcony room. Very unsatisfactory. We paid a premium price but did not experience a premium service.
Everything on the ship was of a high standard and all of the travel arrangements were well put together
All of the excursions were included in the price. Lots of wine and beer at meals. Entertainment every night. Lots of cabin space and a large double bed.
"Transport to and from the shiip and holding hotel bad ,cruise was good"
Booking etc was very easy.communication good. The chauffeur service was good but I had problems getting my mother who needs wheelchair from the drop off point to checking with luggage. Then discovered her wheelchair was broken when we collected it in Paris.the transfer took 4 hours which was exhausting. But once on the ship it was excellent.
We experienced similar problems on our return flight.
Ship and crew great, food good. Room comfy and clean,Perhaps more wheelchair friendly tours could be better ?
"Cruising at its best!"
All the crew were first class and looked after us in a friendly, personal and professional manner. We would have no hesitation in recommending them and will certainly be cruising with Avalon again.
Lovely journey from Paris to Rouen and back, with great excursions.

Great service right through the holiday from making the booking to returning home could not fault.
Well organized, great food & service, very good excursions with excellent guides all organized to the minute.
"Excellent service and organisation...."
Excellent service and organisation.
Great value for money. Really enjoyed cruise.
"Everything was excellent..."
Everything was excellent
"Help with luggage at railway stations would have been appreciated. Staff on..."
Help with luggage at railway stations would have been appreciated. Staff on board were always very helpful and kind.
Organisation was slick, but the Versailles excursion would have been more enjoyable as a full day - not half a day. Would suggest feedback form more straightforward with more simple indvidual questions.
Our first European cruise and it set a very high standard! It was a new boat so we guess everything was going to be very clean and of a high standard but the service, crew and excursions were also excellent.
We had a good deal via secret escapes.
"A lovely week!"
Everything was included for a brilliant holiday from door to door. Boat was very comfortable and the food amazing.
it was the experience of a lifetime excellent service amazing food the only fault is it left us wanting more, and jean loup was brilliant.
the most beautiful places on earth.sailing whilst sat in the room watching everything go by was indescribable. we have fallen in love with Normandy.
First time we have used Avalon and we would certainly recommend them and use them again. Everything was excellent.
Really value for money with everything included.
