See his collection of Japanese prints, his charming house, and his biggest sources of inspiration including the lily pond and Japanese Bridge. Alternatively, visit Bizy Castle, built in 1740 and nicknamed 'Normandy's Versailles'. It is known for its famous stable, magnificent courtyard and water garden. Alternatively, you may want to attend a painting class and find inspiration to paint a real masterpiece. This afternoon arrive in Les Andelys, situated on a bend of the Seine and one of the most beautiful places in France. Join a Local Guide for a walk of the town, including a visit to the Parish Church of Le Petit Andely. The imposing Château Gaillard overlooks the town. Built by Richard the Lionheart in 1196 fearing an attack from France's king, the château fortress was constructed in just one year and is truly a masterpiece of Middle Ages military architecture.
Included today: Excursion along the 'Normandy Abbeys' route. Today, join an excursion along the 'Normandy Abbeys' route, a short drive from Caudebec. More than 100 abbeys once covered this region, that has a microclimate particularly suited to the production of fruit such as apples, pears, plums, and cherries. The afternoon is free to explore on your own or to join in an optional excursion to the pretty coastal town of Honfleur.

When booking extra days in Paris, we were given the name of a hotel. We had friends from America, also on the cruise, who then booked a hotel near to where we were staying.
The hotel we were booked into was changed, but we were not informed until we received out travel documents, and we were therefore quite a far distance away from our friends.
As part of our holiday, we were told we would be met by an Avalon representative on arrival in Paris. This did not happen, which meant us waiting around for an hour and then we made our own way to the hotel. Except for my two comments it would have been a 5star review.

The service was excellent, you only had to ask and it was done. The Captain was superb and so friendly, the Tour Manager was remarkable and all arrangements were first class. All the ships crew were very obliging and amicable.
The cruise was good value in comparison to other cruises I have done. Did not make any surplus purchases whilst on board.

The greeting by the Avalon Rep at the Pullman hotel was very poor indeed - unhelpful not really interested in us as customers. As a first contact with Avalon it was not a good start.
Very good - needed more time on the beaches. Guide was very knowledgeable but talked too much - name Martin.

On our previous cruise there was an issue with air traffic controllers striking - Avalon pulled out all the stops to get us home - other companies might have taken the view that it was nothing to do with them. Excellent service is going the extra mile.
Did what it said on the tin. The Captain of the Tapestry 2 was a star - and the crew responded by providing exemplary service. Jerome, our cruise director, was one of the best.

Onboard excellent, hotel beforehand let the start to the holiday down.First impressions are extremely important. The room set aside for us was in the basement, had no natural light and little comfortable sitting.
Well put together cruise, rejigging of the itinerary was done very well, the general strike in France on the first day did not cause too much disruption, but the itinerary changes were probably a good idea. cabins very good, food as good as we expected, boat very good.
