Everything about our holiday was excellent. We were not disappointed in any way. From the moment we were picked up to go to the airport until we were returned home everything ran like clockwork.

"A very good experience"

It would be 4.5 stars if that option were available. The crew and staff were very pleasant and the service was almost always very prompt and courteous.

"A very pleasant experience being looked after so wonderfully."

This was our first cruise with Avalon and we found that every detail had been carefully thought through from being collected from home to our safe delivery back home. The ship was of a high standard and the crew friendly and attentive. The presentation of each dish, as well as the choice, in the restaurant was first class. The itinerary was varied and comprehensive but sometimes we felt we needed a little time to ourselves to reflect on our experience during the day. The coaches and guides on each trip were a credit to the standards of the company. We are looking forward to choosing another trip with Avalon and will certainly recommend the company to friends.

The itinerary for this trip was well thought out and each excursion showed a different side of life in Holland. The highlight was the Keukenhof Gardens where the displays were even better than we imagined.

"First time cruised with Avalon but hopefully not the last!"

When our flight to Amsterdam was not delayed but cancelled ,we were put on a late afternoon flight .We thought that there was no way we would meet the boat that evening. But Avalon got us in direct contact with the cruise director on the Luminary and we were met later that evening at the airport and taken to the boat , being greeted by the Captain and compliment of staff ( the captain having made an impromptu stop)! How is that for service? . This standard of service continued the whole trip. Everything was well organised . The food was lovely , with plenty of choice and the dining experience enhanced by the immaculately turned out ,attentive table staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them . The staterooms were comfortable and immaculately kept . The whole staff contributed to us having a most enjoyable holiday. They are a credit to Avalon , but more so to themselves .

Even if your not a fan of flowers and gardens ,there are plenty of other places to visit

"A perfect cruise"

19th April 2017 - Trusted Customer

Everything about this cruise was tip top. The ship was perfect with a beautifully designed spacious cabin. The staff were excellent but Tony the cruise director was truly exceptional. A fantastic communicator and so versatile, willing to do anything that was needed.

A perfect itinerary visiting some of the less commercialised parts of the Netherlands. Excellent excursions with very good guides, smaller groups and coaches which were not overfilled. Good too to have a choice of included excursions. The Kroller Muller Museum was a highlight. Spending time cruising during the day was a delight.

"A welcome introduction to the attractions of North Holland."

The experience was very good, with a few lapses. Booking and administration were competent, although there was a late change in our cabin, we suspect in order to accommodate later-booking Americans who were presumably more valued customers. On arrival at the airport we were taken to an anonymous hotel miles from anywhere and left there for four hours with no food. This was an appalling way to start our stay in Holland. When we boarded, my daughter was manhandled out of the reception queue when she thought she was complying with instructions. After that, fortunately things improved considerably: the ship was excellent, the crew were incredibly hardworking and pleasant, and the itinerary was enjoyable and well-paced. The hotel on our return was in the city of Amsterdam and therefore much more convenient.

As mentioned in my previous answer, the ship, crew and itinerary were excellent. The little towns we visited were mainly very pleasant and Amsterdam ended our cruise enjoyably. Our excursions, particularly the Kroller-Muller museum, were very enjoyable. However, our optional excursion to Gouda was a waste of time: the cheese museum was pretty mundane, the church tour was awful, because the guide was ineffective, and our limited free time in the town gave little opportunity to see its much-vaunted attractions. We so wished we'd chosen the Keukenhof option despite having visited it before.
