Renowned for its network of canals and waterways, Holland lies in the western part of the Netherlands. Capital city Amsterdam is the start and end point for many of our itineraries. There is a distinct ambience to this 700-year-old city with its elegant and classic architecture, friendly cafés and restaurants, and lively marketplace. View Dutch masters at the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gough Museum, and relax on a leisurely canal cruise along the elegant grachten, lined by stately homes dating back to Amsterdam’s ‘Golden Age’. Home to Europe’s largest and busiest port, it’s no surprise that Rotterdam’s attractions have a strong connection to water, with highlights including the Maritime Museum and a naval ship from 1868. One of the most famous and visited places in Holland is the world renowned Keukenhof Gardens, encompassing over 70 acres of parkland dotted with lakes, sculpted gardens, and, of course, a windmill. With its picturesque towns, sleepy waterways and relaxed pace, Holland is a real treat to explore.
