Unfortunately mobility scooters are not permitted on-board Avalon cruises. Our motor coach transportation for excursion and transfers are not equipped with ramps.
On river cruises we do not have lifts that go to every level of the ship. Most doors to cabins, staterooms and restrooms are not wide enough to allow access by standard wheelchairs. For safety reasons travellers in wheelchairs cannot be carried on ramps in ports. When travelling on excursions in particular within Europe there will be places where the facilities at the ports and docks present some logistical challenges, eg cobbled roads or steep pathways. Please bear these points in mind when considering a cruise
These should be advised at the time of booking however we cannot guarantee that your requirements will be met. Please note any request does not form part of your holiday arrangements.
We will do everything in our power to ensure our guests have a safe and comfortable journey. Any passengers requiring special attention should be reported to Avalon Waterways by you or your travel agent at the time the reservation is made. We regret that we cannot provide individual assistance to a customer for walking, dining, and getting on and off ships and other transportation vehicles, or other personal needs. A qualified companion must accompany travellers who need such assistance.
Please be aware that several food served onboard can contain traces of nuts. Peanuts are served during the happy hours every evening, and traces of nuts are contained in most of the bed time sweets. Please discuss your allergy with the Hotel Manager and Chef when onboard.
Unfortunately we are unable to deliver Kosher/Halal meals onboard
If you have made us aware that you require special assistance you would have received a Welfare form to complete and return to us. Just highlight on the form that you require airport assistance and we will take it from there.
Collapsible wheelchairs are permitted on board, but for safety reasons, the number Avalon can accept is limited and a wheelchair maximum size must not exceed 1030mm/40.44 inches length x 555mm/21.85 inches wide. You must notify us that the time of your booking of you intention to bring a wheelchair to ensure we can accommodate within safety regulations. There is no separate storage for wheelchairs, it must be kept in your stateroom.
Avalon Waterways does not have specialised facilities and/or treatments for childbirth, prenatal or early infant care on board its cruise ships, nor may those facilities be available at ports of call or on land stays. The Company strongly urges pregnant travellers to consider the risks of travelling where necessary medical care for pregnancy may not be available and may not be reachable in a timely manner to address potential medical complications, problems and emergencies that can occur during pregnancy.
